Christmas Home Wall Decorations Ideas 2018

Inject some greenery into your home this Christmas, by decorating using foliage, flowers, pine cones and twigs to create natural and beautiful Christmas decorations.

You could collect foliage on your next walk in the woods, or simply pick up some natural decorations in your garden.

Here are eight beautiful ways to decorate your home with greenery this Christmas...

1. A garland to adorn

Secure small branches of evergreens onto a length of heavy rope (£1.95 per metre, Amazon) using florist's wire, covering the wire with foliage as you work. Tie it off against itself at regular intervals to secure. Hang with pine cones (£6.25 for 50, Amazon Best Seller), baubles and ribbons – and don't forget a stocking or a large sock for Santa.

2. Sparkle and shine

Hang up a twiggy branch, then decorate the framework with colourful baubles and ribbons to twinkle like a chandelier. Interestingly shaped cuttings, like this piece of elder covered in lichen, will give the best effect.

3. Put on show

With just a few delicate flowers you can create a magical festive table decoration. Here, pink ranunculus heads (£6.95, Amazon) are displayed inside old etched and cut glasses (£5, Amazon), with flickering candlelight from floating nightlights.

4. All in the detail

Add instant charm to a mantelpiece display with a few simple festive decorations. Here, a mix of baubles in complementary colours sits among the foliage with wooden candleholders and a paper bird ornament.

5. Delightfully different

Apart from the classic pine cone, there are many variations that can be used for your seasonal arrangements. Long cones work particularly well in a garland for a staircase or anywhere with a bit of height.

6. The power of flowers

A beautiful decorative bowl is ideal for displaying a low arrangement of blooms in seasonal colours. Traditionally forced for Christmas, long, stalky amaryllis look dramatic when cut short and partnered with other vivid shades. Some scrunched chicken wire, moulded into the inside of the bowl, will hold the flowers in place. Position at the centre of a dining table or on a side table in the hallway to make a striking welcoming display.

7. A twist on willow

This decoration is easily made by bending hazel twigs into two hoops to form a heart and tying to secure with florist's wire or twine (£4.99, Amazon) at the base and apex. Fresh cut green willow is equally pliant and would also work well. Trim the ends and decorate with sprigs of mistletoe attached with wire and a brightly coloured ribbon (£1.99, Amazon).

8. A festive fireplace

Dress a mantelpiece with evergreens in contrasting textures, such as holm oak and pine. Turn jam jars into stylish vases by covering them with lengths of cut hazel secured with glue. Create different heights and use to display festive red amaryllis.
